Acknowledgements and disclaimers

Some background scripts and their resulting kml files are based on code put into the public domain. Further changes and other scripts were done by Derek Munro of the Canadian Biodiversity Information Facility (CBIF) on behalf of GBIF (starting 2005 09 28). Copyrights, acknowledgements and descriptions of the topographic layers and gazetteers are viewed by using the hyperlinks in the downloaded files that appear in Google Earth.

All Google Earth files are retrieved from remote servers. Problems, errors, accuracy and availability are therefore beyond the control of GBIF.

To view the precision of the points for GBIF occurrence data placed on the Google Earth surface either:

• view the "CoordinatePrecision" or "CoordinateUncertaintyInMeters" elements of the source records by clicking your mouse on the icons and follow the link View GBIF record data,
• or use the Advanced Query to visualize precision.
